Large Scale Data Centre, Dublin – Battery Installation and Monitoring.

The background

Our client, Vertiv, working on behalf of a global leading American IT company, required a large-scale battery installation to support twenty-four 800 kVA, two 400kVa and three 60kVa UPSs.
The client, one of the largest IT companies in the world, required their data centre to be installed with world-leading battery backups and a battery monitoring system to provide accurate and real-time information for all the installed batteries.

The solution

The Continu battery build team, organised by Continu’s Operation Manager, were involved in rigorous onsite training and designed an efficient system to install five strings of 40 batteries per UPS.
Our Team also installed the PowerShield battery monitoring system. PowerShield was chosen by the client as it is the most complete yet flexible Battery Management Solution available on the market today. The modular structure of the PowerShield solution enabled the client to monitor all of the installed batteries in a multi-system site.

The results

Working as a tight and organised team in difficult conditions using specialised equipment we met all deadlines of this large scale project lasting many months.

The PowerShield battery monitoring solution provides business continuity, reduces reputational risks and allows the client to save on needless routine replacement. With this service, the client’s batteries are monitored and maintained proactively and the risk of a battery failure is reduced to the absolute minimum.
