The background
Radius provides quality and affordable social housing in 80 towns and cities throughout Northern Ireland. They provide sheltered housing for the over 55’s and general needs housing for families and single people. They also offer a range of specialist care and support facilities for the Frail Elderly, people with Dementia and Learning Disabilities, and other complex needs such as homelessness and victims of domestic violence.
As a leading provider of technology-enabled care and support services throughout Ireland, Radius strive to deliver an exceptional service beyond the expectations of customers. To do this it is vital the IT systems are never compromised. Reliable backup is essential.
Radius Housing server room required investment due to existing backup power equipment & aircon reaching end of working life and not being able to provide adequate protection for recently updated IT infrastructure. Continu had previously supported Fold Housing, (Which merged with existing customer Helm Housing to create Radius), with a Schneider Galaxy 3000UPS.
The solution
Radius Housing preferred a local ‘one stop shop’ for their backup power requirements and approached Continu for a solution. We carried out a comprehensive site survey and, together with the IT department of Radius Housing, designed the best solution for the company. Based on these recommendations, the Schneider Galaxy 300 30kVA UPS was specified to ensure backup of two new aircon units as well as the APC 60kW Maintenance Service Bypass Panel providing sufficient runtime at full load to support the IT.
The results
The system was up and running successfully to the full satisfaction of the customer due to our Operations Manager managing the entire project from start to finish. This solution provides Radius Housing with ample time to smoothly manage their centre operations in the event of a power outage, preventing downtime and data loss.
