Replacement UPS for Ireland’s leading newspaper and online publisher

The background

INM is the leading newspaper and online publisher on the island of Ireland. The Group is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and is quoted on the Irish and London Stock Exchanges.

INM brands are household names in Ireland, with the Irish Independent, Sunday Independent, The Herald, Sunday World, Belfast Telegraph, Sunday Life and The Star, all market leaders in their segments.

It was end of working lifecycle of existing Schneider Electric Galaxy equipment that required a suitable replacement backup system to protect critical equipment at the Belfast site.

The solution

Following site surveys the customer opted for the Schneider Electric Galaxy 5500 120kVA 400V Integrated Parallel UPS.

The results

Unfortunately an unforeseen weather event caused significant damage to the backup power equipment over the Christmas shutdown period. A second identical UPS was installed during the first week of January to replace the equipment. Continu worked rapidly with partners Schneider Electric to ensure INM were backed up. The project led to a trusted partnership with INM and roll out of backup power equipment for the ROI sites.
